I'm an experienced teacher with a special interest in teaching math and language arts. For me, it's incredibly rewarding to help students succeed and see them reach a breakthrough. It is a special moment when I can empower a student to master a concept that he or she was previously struggling with. In tutoring, I use research-based strategies to address my students' individual needs. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Christopher Newport University in 2011. After my undergraduate work, I taught kindergarten in Bangkok, Thailand for a year. After returning to the States, I went to the University of Richmond, where I was in the Teacher Licensure program. I obtained my license for teaching at the elementary level in Virginia, where I have taught students in the first grade.One of my favorite experiences in tutoring was volunteering in a middle school program for English language learners, helping them to prepare for standardized tests. I also enjoyed being a part of the reading tutoring program during my years at the University of Richmond, where I helped a student to improve his reading and writing skills. Besides teaching, I have a passion for art and photography. I enjoy spending time playing tennis and working out.
